Life is Beautiful by Dario and Mate (Suzanne's Level 4)

It is a comedy-drama film which was written and directed by Roberto Benigni in 1997. Benigni also stars as the main character with his real wife, Nicoletta Braschi. It also stars a young actor as the couple's child.

It is set in a Tuscan old town and it's about a Jewish Italian family which, at the height of its beautiful and moving life story, is caught by the Nazis and taken to a concentration camp as prisoners.

Here, despite the horror, hunger and sickness, Guido tries to get his child to believe that life in the concentration camp is just a game whose aim is to win some tanks. So the child lives the internment peaceful in soul. When his father is caught by the Nazi soldiers, he has the last look at him as he smiles and marches jokingly while a soldier is putting a gun to his head.

So, you can realise that life is a prize and, even in a bad situation, you should find some positive reasons to live. We recommend this movie because it is really gripping from the first scenes to the last.
