Welcome to the South by Carla, Alberto and Maria Antoinetta

Welcome to the South is the new film directed by Luca Miniero. It's a comedy which stars Claudio Bisio and Alessandro Siani as the main characters.

It's set in Castellabate, a town near Naples, and it's about the prejudice between northerners and southerners and the difference between life in a city and life in a town.

The most important scene is when Bisio's wife goes to Castellabate to see her husband's condition. Bisio with the help of the inhabitants prepares a tragic scene of the life in the south because of his past lies. in this scene we can see the cooperation of all inhabitants that show their love for all people without difference.

I like this film very much because the director represents a real problem in Italy: the difference between northerners and southerners. I would recommend it to all people that like comedy because i found it very funny.

  1. I don’t like comedies when they’re stupid and just look for a lough. But I think that the authors have chosen a good comedy not only for the cast and the plot but also for the message because, as they’ve written, there’s in Italy (and maybe in other countries) a real problem of prejudice and intolerance between northerners and southerners. How would you feel if you had to live in another country? This is the challenge and we often can’t face it.

  2. I saw this film and I agree with the reviw's authors. I've found it very funny and also, despite the genre,I've found the film full of food for thought, above all for social problems that concern prejudices between people and the fear or skeptcism of all that is different by us.
The main caracters Claudio Bisio and Alessandro Siani play theirs role in a perfect way: they represent wonderfully the stereotypes of northerners and southerners italian people. "Welcome to the South" is a reworking of French comedy film named "Welcome to the Sticks" that it was written and directed by Dany Boon, a famous French comedian who has made a cameo appearance in the italian remake.

  5. A successful film because it can tell the prejudices between people with different points of view, ridiculing stereotypes and snatching a lot of laughter to the audience

  6. I agree with you! It's especially interesting for foreign people to learn about some of the cultural differences in Italy, their strong points and the difficulties they can create.
